Welcome to the very first themed post. Since majority of the votes went to a beach theme (in the middle of the winter) that is what I am doing regardless of the weather conditions where most of you live. Since this is all new, I'm switching things up for the way these posts will look as well.
So enjoy the poem first and a little food for thought afterwards, opposite order it used to be in. Beach vibes will stay for 4 weeks. In those 4 weeks I would love ideas, prompts, suggestions (whatever you prefer to call them) from you guys and gals. I want to make this space as enjoyable and relaxing for every reader. So please tell me what you like and I'll do more of that.
Phew, enough admin/housekeeping. Here goes:

Senses
I feel the sand beneath my feet
I hear the waves delicately folding over
I smell the salt weaving through the air
Taste it wrinkling my lips
But I don’t care
Light glistens over the horizon
It stretches further than any welcoming embrace
I swear it could swallow my whole
So I take a step closer
It’s dangerous, I’m told
To give in to its beckoning caress
To vulnerably open yourself
Into the beauty and color
Still closer I tread
Not afraid to be pulled under
Until finally I reach the water’s edge
Not close enough to touch
Who am I without being able to see
The beautiful sight of the ocean
Who am I?
Not much
I swear it started as my light hearted take on how much I love quiet time at the beach, but then my mind just kept running. It got me thinking about how lucky I am to be able to see all the colours and movements and reflections of the beauty body of water we call the ocean. So often, we take for granted the basic things we accept as a given. In light of that at the start of this theme I want to open your eyes in respect to those who physically can't.

Time to open your eyes
